TIMSS 2027
Assessment Frameworks
The TIMSS 2027 Assessment Frameworks provide the foundation for the four international assessments that comprise IEA’s TIMSS 2027: TIMSS Mathematics—Fourth Grade, TIMSS Mathematics—Eighth Grade, TIMSS Science—Fourth Grade, and TIMSS Science—Eighth Grade.
Chapters 1 and 2 present the Mathematics Assessment Framework and the Science Assessment Framework, which provide the foundation for the TIMSS 2027 achievement test. These chapters describe the content domains in each subject for fourth and eighth grades and also provide information about cognitive domains– i.e., the thinking skills students are expected to use when responding to the assessment items
Chapter 3 presents the Contextual Framework, which provides an overview of information that TIMSS 2027 collects about the contexts of students’ learning in mathematics and science. It explains the topics to be investigated through the questionnaires completed by students, their parents, teachers, and school principals.
Chapter 4 presents the Assessment Design, which describes the organization of the TIMSS 2027 mathematics and science assessments, including details about implementation of the group-adaptive design.
